In Design Studio 7 we were asked to design for the historically ​protected area of the old train station in Thessaloniki, re-purposing the ​old goods warehouse to a multipurpose space, while also designing a ​new additional building in place of the destroyed half of the ​warehouse.

After carefully studying the history of the building and evaluating it we ​proceeded on the restoration. We decided retain the essence of the ​building while redesigning the openings to fit the modern standards.

Concerning the additional building, we replaced the central part with a ​garden with an observatory of the train station, adding a new building ​replacing the destroyed wing. For the new building we kept the main ​principles of clear rectangular spaces with rhythmical facades of the ​remaining part and redesigned it with a modern touch.

The old building hosts multimedia spaces, complementary uses and ​an archive room, while the new building consists of workshop spaces ​and complementary uses.
